There is a tremendous battle raging in the spiritual world over
you. Your eternal destination is at stake. There are two forces
waging this battle: God and the devil.
God loves you with a love that can change your whole way of
thinking, if you allow it. He paid a great price for your
eternal life, but He will not demand that you submit to His
authority. You need to want His ways and understand what He has
done for you. He wants to give you an abundant life and eternity
with Him.
On the other hand, the devil wants to destroy you. He is the
thief and destroyer and he wants you. He wants to send you into
his place for eternity and it is a place of agony. The devil
uses lies and deceptions to lure you into pleasures that trap
you and cause you distress. The price for his pleasures is
sickness, distress and destruction.
Christians are not immune to the lures and traps of the devil.
He will lead you to think that what you are doing is OK. He is
subtle and will start you off with a seemingly harmless activity
and gradually will add evil components. When you are comfortable
with just a little compromise with what is right and true, the
devil will add a new dimension of compromise, and then another
until you are addicted to your sin.
A prime example of this addictive behavior is gaming. From the
beginning of video games to the use of smart phones and I Pads,
gaming is a national epidemic. Christians are involved in many
of these games. Many of the games are demonic as well as
violent. Just the violence should be a turn off for Christians
who should be looking at what is good and pure and lovely.
Gaming is not the only avenue the devil uses to get your mind
off of God and on to violence and evil. So many movies and TV
shows have themes of graphic violence. Where we once did not
show a “bad guy” getting shot, now we see all the gory details
of killings. Add to the list the programs or movies featuring
occult practices and there is little left to watch. Even
associating with evil for “fun” or playing games, is harmful to
your soul.
A steady diet of evil and violence will corrupt your soul. You
can claim that you love Jesus, and you are safe from the evil
effects of such shows, but you are mistaken. The Bible is
specific about corrupting your life with the evil of the world.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2
Corinthians 6:14
The devil is darkness, and you should not have communion or any
relationship with him or his ways. When you dabble, even a
little bit, in things that are not godly, you are relating to
the devil. Your mind is on things of the world rather than
things of God.There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free
from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in
that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in
the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the
flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in
us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they
that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but
they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to
be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is
life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:
for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are
not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of
God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,
he is none of His. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead
because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead
dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live
after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body,
ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they
are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of
bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself
beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of
God: Romans 8:1-16
You may want to side with God in the battle for your soul. Turn
to Jesus and turn off the things of the flesh. Find your life in
the things of the Spirit of God and rest in His love for you!
